MOOS AGM at the Ian Rogers Collection

Sat 21st Apr 2018 (Expired!)

Hayle, Cornwall, TR27 5ET

Contact James Dundon: moosmembership@outlook.com

We can confirm next year's MOOS AGM will happen on the 21st April 2018, in CORNWALL at the Ian Rogers Collection near Hayle (TR27 5ET). It's a collection which has only recently been established, and, so far, only seen by a handful of people. Ian has a big collection of Concert, Street and Dance organs of all sizes. He has one of the largest selections of David Leach instruments such as the 56 Keyless 'Autumn Splendour', 72 Key Concert Organ 'Lady Margaret' and 105 Key Dance Organ 'Palm Court Orchestra' along side three Decaps, including Ian's latest acquisition, the 105 Key 'Metropol' which after a lot of work by Ian and friends is sounding at its very best. Smaller examples in the collection include handturned instruments, and a 54 note parlour organ. As well as Ian's large 'barn' his garden will play host to a number of guest instruments from the Cornwall and Devon area, giving you the opportunity to see and hear around 20 organs not usually seen outside of the Southwest. Ian and family will provide a warm welcome to all MOOS members and friends. It guarantees to be a music packed and social weekend. As well as plenty of music either side of the AGM on the Saturday, there will be a party night on the Saturday evening, and an open day to another Cornish collection on the Sunday.

Leisure Lakes Steam & Vintage Vehicle Rally

Sat 28th Apr 2018 to Sun 29th Apr 2018 !!EVENT CANCELLED!!

Leisure Lakes, Mere Brow, Tarleton, Preston, Lancashire, PR4 6JX

Plans are steaming ahead now for this year's 10th Rally Special. We are thrilled with the response we have had and hope this will be the best yet. As it's our 10th Rally we have arranged 10 Showman's Engines to join us. Pride of place in the line-up will be the impressive 1905 Fowler 10318 Showman's Road Locamotive 'Sunny Boy' - an engine that has never been rallied as a full showman's since complete renovation back in 1984. Owned by the Baldwin family, 'Sunny Boy' is likely to return to its home at The Commercial Vehicle Museum following their roof restorations - so this maybe the only opportunity to witness 'Sunny Boy' in steam. More info will follow very soon on the other 9 engines. Sunday 29th April would have been Fred Dibnah's 80th Birthday and we are honoured to be hosting a special display by the Dibnah family to celebrate. Throughout the weekend Fred's three daughters Lorna, Caroline and Jayne will be displaying two of Fred's iconic Land Rovers, whilst Jack and Roger Dibnah will be displaying Fred's Aveling & Porter Steam Roller 'Betsy' together with Fred's iconic Living Van.

Market Place, Diss, Norfolk, IP22 4AB

This event is the biggest celebration of Mechanical Music in the UK. Over 40, yes FORTY instruments are in play through the day in the pretty town of Diss. Why Diss? Diss is such an historic and picturesque market town and it gives us ample space to spread the music across town, meaning you're never more than a few steps away from something new and exciting to listen to! Because of our closeness to ferry terminals, we can attract visitors from Belgium, Holland and beyond who enjoy the continental feel of the festival.

The Southern Counties Organ Festival

Sat 2nd Jun 2018 to Sun 3rd Jun 2018 (Expired!)

The Large Green, Southbroom Road, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 5BN

07866 055207

Southern Counties Organ Festival is, as its name suggests, a celebration of all things 'mechanical music'. It was started some time ago by Graham Spencer and had its first event at Fontwell Park Racecourse. From there it moved to The Twyford Waterworks Museum for several years, after which Graham decided to relinquish control and passed the event to myself. My first attempt with SCOF, as it has become affectionately known, was at Exbury Gardens, a beautiful setting near Southampton. However, as I wanted to make the event bigger and they wanted it to become smaller we parted company and SCOF moved to The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop for several years. Due to a change of policy and directorship, the Museum, quite understandably, wanted to start charging for the use of its field which we had been using. It was with a sense of reluctance, then, that I decided to move SCOF and approached Devizes Town Council to see if we would be able to use the public open space known as The Large Green.

These events have not been organised or endorsed by FOPS, but are expected to have a fair organ presence. Please check with the organisers that an event is on before travelling. If you would like to add an event or update any details, contact the
