Post subject:  Thursford Founder's Day

Hello everyone,

The above event will be held on Sunday the 17th of April 2011.

I cannot recommend this enough. If you are remotely interested in mechanical organs then make the trip. Fabulous instruments in excellent playing order, presented in beautiful purpose built surroundings. This place is the closest thing we have to a national collection. Organs by Gavioli (2), Marenghi, Wellershaus, Hooghuys (2), Frei, Koeningsberg, Mortier, DeCap & WurliTzer. Many other exhibits such as traction engines, fairground rides, & art.

Founders Day is the one day a year when you can hear the organs played for a decent amount of time, & meet many other like minded nutters like us!

Will the Hooghuys be finished? Come & find out!

There is also a souvenir shop, cafe, ice cream parlour, fudge shop, & ceramic harlequin shop (Vic & Bob quote).

See you there.
Rob.

Well another Founder's day over. The organs all played superbly well, even the Mortier. There has been progress on the Hooghuys too.

It was, as ever, great to catch up with so many fellow nutters.

What a fantastic place. Here's to the next one.
