Dear all

With just over two weeks to go, I thought it may be worth adding some details about two events taking place in Hertfordshire on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July.

Hitchin Fair Organ Day Saturday 30th June

Around 12 vintage fairground, street, dance and hand turned organs will be playing in Hitchin Town Centre between 10am and 4pm. The event is being organised in conjunction with Hitchin Town Centre Initiative and is part of the month long 'Hitchin Festival' programme. Admission is free and everyone is very welcome to come along!

I hope to produce a map and handout on the day detailing organs and their locations in the town.

For further information, please email Hitchinfairorgan@gmail.com

Directions to Hitchin if coming by car: From A1M Junction 8 (Stevenage) take A602 to Hitchin and follow signs towards the town centre.

From M1 Junction 10 (Luton) follow A1081 and A505 to Hitchin and follow signs for the town centre.

Ample public car parking available in Hitchin.

Open Gardens in Stevenage Sunday 1st July

About 12 gardens will be opening their gates to the public in Stevenage Old Town and amongst them will be that of Peter Craig and Janet Tyndale. In addition to the garden being open, Peter's collection of vintage Belgian dance organs ( 84 Key Mortier 'Venus di Milo', 72 Key Decap and 92 Key Decap) will be entertaining visitors in addition to Peter's 36 Key Verbeeck street organ. A small garden railway may be operating weather permitting. The event is open between 1pm and 5pm and admission is £5.00. Further details can be found from this link below.

Both Hitchin and Stevenage are served by main line rail services operated by First Capital Connect between London Kings Cross and stations towards Cambridge and Peterborough.

Hope you may be able to join us for a weekend of mechanical music in Hertfordshire. We look forward to seeing you!

Best Wishes

David Dingwall (Hitchin Fair Organ Day event organiser)

Good luck with the event, David and Peter! Unfortunately I won't be able to attend on Saturday and probably not on Sunday either :(

Thanks for your kind message Bjorn, we're just hoping that the weather is much better than what we've seen here the last couple of months!!!

Regards
David

I surely hope so - would surely be a bit discouraging if the weather would let you down. Fingers crossed!

A big thank you to all the exhibitors and everyone who came to support both the Hitchin Fair Organ Day and the Open Gardens events last weekend. It really was an excellent weekend.

For those of you that couldn't make it, I hope (providing this works!) the link below will be of interest and it shows you some pictures of some of the organs taking part at Hitchin on Saturday.
