Fair Organ Preservation Society 2018 AGM & 60th Anniversary Celebrations

14th & 15th April 2018

Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum & Reid’s Yard

Saturday April 14th will see approximately eight instruments of varying size and tonality, playing at the Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum. The AGM will also take place here on this day. Free Entry to FOPS Members (usual price is £7.00) so please remember to bring your membership card! Trolleybuses will be giving free rides throughout the day. Lots of interesting vehicles to see and old style village with café! The address is The Trolleybus Museum, Belton Road, Sandtoft, Doncaster, DN8 5SX. More information on this venue can be found on the museums website – http:// http://www.sandtoft.org/

On the following Sunday, there will be a large scale organ festival, with around 20 instruments playing around Reid’s yard and workshops near Thorne. Various instruments from around the UK and Europe will be in attendance including some rarely seen historic fairground organs! The address is Willow Garth, Thorne Road, Hatfield, Doncaster, DN7 6EN. For more information on this venue, or on the event in general, please contact James Reid – 01405 947655 / 07752 288703 / jamesreidmm@gmail.com / http://www.organbooks.co.uk There is also a Facebook page for the event.

Space is at a premium on both days; so if you would like to attend with an instrument, please contact James to check on availability. We do also need two organs to play at the Trolleybus Museum on the Sunday, so if anyone would like to donate their time and instrument to the society on this day, it would be greatly appreciated.

Camping for caravans and motor homes will be available on Saturday night free of charge at Reid’s yard (please contact James if you wish to park up here for the night).

There are also several pleasant, low priced hotels in Thorne should you wish to stay. Two of which are –
The Punch Bowl - 01405 813580
The Fair Green Hotel - 01405 817117
Both have been highly recommended by our previous guests.

Thorne has two railway stations (North and South). If required, taxis are available from MK1 Cab Co - 01405 818880 and Thorne Hire Cars - 01405 817777
