Hmm, the construction of this instrument reminds me of a Piano Melodico by Racca - I believe the museum in Utrecht has one of these, or a very similar instrument? |

A similar instrument was sold at the recent sale of Musical instruments from the collection of the late John Nixon of Biddulph Moor. Unfortunately the buyer only wanted the Hot Air engine and I believe the rest of the instrument has been sold on to a German Collector for restoration. |

John Nixon did have a similar, if not identical instrument with a hot air engine. It was sold at John's auction last November with a Rentokill woodworm certificate!
File comment: The instrument in John Nixon's collection...complete with lots of woodworm holes!
File comment: A close up of the gearing
File comment: The hot air engine
File comment: One of only 4 or 5 books of music
