Post subject:  Imhof & Mukle Fair Organ from 1850-1860s

I originally posted in February 2011 about our quest to find the current whereabouts of the Imhof & Mukle Self Changing Barrel Organ once travelled in Oxfordshire under the guises of Innes', Phipps' and latterly Hatwell's Golden Gallopers.

Thank you to all who took the trouble to read the thread (over 200 of you) and I am delighted to report that we have today visited the organ and its current owner in Cambridgeshire. I am most grateful to messrs. Steve and Michael Smith for their help and encyclopaedic fairground archives!

The organ has been in current ownership since 1960, has been professionally dismantled and, I am told, a slow restoration is underway!

For the sake of completeness - the Manchester restauranteur from the 1950s seems to have been a Chris Shelmerdine; the next known home for the organ was Easingwold, Yorks from where Burnham Market based collector Arthur Mason bought it in the very late 1950s (or early 1960). It has been just 10 miles from my current home since 1960!
