In the Canal Boat Museum in Ellesmere Port, Wirral, there is an old picture of a Crosville bus. In the background, there is a building with a sign saying "Victoria Organ Works".

The first route operated by the Crosville Bus Company was to Ellesmere Port and that is where the picture was taken (apparently!).

Does anyone know anything about it and what organs were made there?

File comment: Crossville bus in Ellesmere Port next to Organ Works!

Thats a very interesting picture Dave, I hope someone can tell us what Organs were made there.
The Crosville Bus is also interesting to me it looks like it was built circa 1918 it is on Solid tyres but I dont recognise the make.
Crosville were a large Bus Company in the Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales area up to the deregulation of the public transport system, they also had a Depot in Warrington.

Have just spoken to Syd Reeves Organ Builder, who remembers 'Whitelys' of Chester and also an Organ Works in Birkenhead that Hope-Jones of Wurlitzer fame was associated with I wonder if either of them had any connection?

Just found the following link to the history of Crosville. The picture could have been taken in Chester at the headquarters, if so it seems likely that the organ works are Whiteleys.
