Hi, I am hoping you might be able to help me with a difficult decision. I have recently inherited the responsibility for a lovely 30 keyless Dean organ with Glockenspiel that was custom-made for it's original owner (a longtime fops member) in 1991. The executors sent the organ to auction, but I recently withdrew it as I felt it was not a good fit, (juxtapositioned, between all the flotsam & jetsam, the diamond in the rough of the bargain basement). It was just too depressing, it's original owner would have been heart-broken, as it had been his pride & joy & he had saved up most of a lifetime to buy it. Obviously the withdrawal fee and transportation costs will be expensive, so the auctioneers have offered up a new sale date with a better "spotlight" and a very tight deadline within which to make my decision. However, I still feel it is out of place and not where genuine lovers of this art form are likely to be found. Gut instinct tells me to bring it home and sell it to someone, somewhere who will derive as much pleasure out of it as it's former owner, and will proudly carry on taking to shows, fairs etc, but this is not a particularly rational strategy. Has this conundrum ever come up before? I would welcome any opinions. Thank you.
