If anyone is interested in arranging music for MIDI organs. I have started testing Anvil Studio not up to speed with it yet and having some timing problems even errors, but I will persevere, if anyone has any alternative please speak up. It must be free no free trials I won’t even bother with free trials they just wind me up. This is a screen shot ![]() It’s a bit over the top for my use and I do prefer cakewalk 3, Getting cakewalk 3 to run under window 7 is a bit of a nightmare but did get it running under window 7. Anyway this is a link to the home page for your free software http://www.anvilstudio.com/ This is the direct link to the download page. http://www.anvilstudio.com/index3.htm |

Hi Phil. I have never seen Anvil Studio before, so I can't offer any info, but it looks interesting and very much like Cakewalk, which is what I use whenever I need to edit mechanical music. Let us know how you get on with it! |

I took a quick look at Anvil Studio, but I did not see anything in it to make me switch from PowerTracks Pro, which I have been using for many years, and through several updates. My arranging, or whatever you want to call the process of adapting music to fit a 20er organ, is outlined on my personal website: www.wallace-venable.name/mechanical-music/ I work from all sorts of sources, including down-loaded MIDI files, piano sheet music, and occasionally simple lead sheets. |

Somewhat belated response to your post Phil ! I am still working (on and off) on My Great British Mouse Organ and have been having trouble using Cakewalk 3 which won't run on my laptop (which is 64 bit Windows 7) , so although I can edit on my PC OK I can't work with a direct connection to the organ. Just came across Anvil Studio which will run OK on my new Surface Pro with Windows 8 and looks promising ! How have you got on with it ? Is it worth pursuing ? |

Your response is to a 2011 set of posts. I see that there is a free 2015 version of the software available, so any previous technical difficulties may have been resolved, although likely at the expense of a steeper learning curve. I'm still happy with PowerTracks Pro, so I'm not going to take the time to test the new version of Anvil Studio. It does look very capable. |
