Not sure if anyone else has seen the following announcement on the May Day Steam web site, "It is with great regret that the May Day Steam Committee must announce the end of MAY DAY STEAM"

For more info log on to http://www.maydaysteam.co.uk

Best wishes

Hi Albert.

A very sad announcement, but not entirely unexpected. I think most people have been expecting it for years.

However I will miss it, because it used to be the first event of the season in our area. :sad2:

Albert.
Another Rally bites the dust!
I received a letter today from the Chairman "George Coles" confirming that there would be no May Day Steam event in 2011. One of the reasons being the lack of help in the running of the event, a problem which seems to be affecting most events these days, no one wants the work involved anymore.
I will be very sorry to see its demise having attended with Motor Cycles Cars and Organs since the days at Burtonwood and Haydock Park and have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere.
A special thank you from me for all the hard work the Committee and members of the Lancashire Traction Engine Club and Urmston and District Model Engineering Society have put in to the Rally in the past.

Regards
George. :cry2:

How un-canny! I was just about to tell you all but thankfully Albert has done it for me.

I had a phone call at the office from someone the other day who told that the event had sadly died of death and was no longer going ahead.

Great shame but I suppose all good things must come to an end sooner or later. Shame that the big Gavioli will no longer grace Manchester with its music.

I will miss the organ being in Manchester the most!

thanku

That is sad news.

Very unfortunately, I suspect that it will not be the only one to bite the dust in 2011.

The five things that they list afflict many organizations, and it is not getting any easier to run such events.....

I must thank them for their efforts in the past.
