SKy TV have recently started to block recording some of their subscriber channels onto Video or DVD recorders. When you try to record a premium channel such as Sky Sports you may get a message on screen telling you that the programme is 'Copy protected' even if you subscribe to that channel, they allow you to record to the hard drive of their new box so it seems obvious that the restriction is to force customers into upgrading to a new style hard drive box.
When you speak to Sky they tell you that it is the Goverment that has forced them to take the action because of copyright laws, which seems odd if you can still record to a hard drive box.
Has anyone else experienced a problem or have you read anywhere of a new Government regulation about recording TV programmes.
Regards.
George.
